Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

First of all, we advise you to repent immediately as you were wrong for two reasons:

1- Establishing an affectionate relationship with a non-Mahram man and this is forbidden in Islam; for more benefit, please refer to Fataawa 81356 and 86143.

2- Lying to your mother: this is a double sin: lying and being undutiful to your parent.

Therefore, you should sincerely repent to Allaah. Indeed, a person may be afflicted due to a sin that he committed. Allaah Says (what means): {And whatever strikes you of disaster — it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much.}[Quran 42:30]

Besides, a sin is darkness in the heart, and a good deed is a light in the heart as stated by Ibn ‘Abbaas may Allaah be pleased with him. Look how your sin has led to another calamity, which is the disputes between the two families, and thus is the evil consequences of sin.

Moreover, it does not seem that this young man turned away from you because of magic; rather, it appears that the aforementioned things that happened were the reason he turned away from you.

In any case, we advise you not to embarrass yourself by attaching your heart to a man who does not want you as a wife, it might be that Allaah repelled an evil from you; Allaah Says (what means): {Perhaps you dislike a thing and Allaah makes therein much good.}[Quran 4:19] Therefore, we advise you to be steadfast on performing good deeds and supplicate Allaah as much as possible to facilitate for you a pious husband who would be a comfort to your eyes. If a person who is religious and has a good moral conduct loves his wife, he would honor her, and if he hates her, he would not humiliate her.

As regards committing suicide, this is something that you should not think about, let alone committing it. Suicide leads the person to eternal misery and a manifest loss. Allaah Says (what means): {And of the people is he who worships Allaah on an edge. If he is touched by good, he is reassured by it; but if he is struck by trial, he turns on his face [to the other direction]. He has lost [this] world and the Hereafter. That is what the manifest loss is.}[Quran 22:11] For more benefit on warning against suicide, please refer to Fataawa 81819 and 84296.

Concerning your relatives’ sarcastic comments about you, then this is not permissible; Allaah Says (what means): {O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them.}[Quran 49:11] Hence, we advise you to be patient with them, advise them with good and soft words, and remind them of Allaah.

Allaah Knows best.
