Question
ASA, My son is three and half years old. He talks very little. I have been to doctor but not satisfied with their advise. His name is AHMED GHANI IMAM. Please advise in view of Islamic that his name is OK. I have guided by some islamic leader to read 1000 times AlQadiro and AlQawio on water and let him drink. ihavent started yet. Please highlight. Your reply would be great help to me.

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
With regard to your son’s name and whether or not it is suitable, then if you mean that the whole name “Ahmad Ghani Imam” is the name of your son and the first names “Ghani” and “Imam” are not the name of his father and grandfather, then such compound names cause ambiguity and some scholars stated that “it is disliked to be named with compound names as this leads to ambiguity and confusion, this is why compound names were not known at the time of the Salaf (righteous predecessors), rather they were known in the recent centuries.” For more benefit, refer to Fatwa 135831.
These scholars mean by the compound names that are disliked to be named with those names like the name mentioned in the question, and not names like the name of Abdullaah (i.e. [male] Slave of Allaah), Abdur-Rahmaan and Amat Allaah (i.e. [female] Slave of Allaah) or Sayf Allaah (i.e. Sword of Allaah) and so forth as there is no ambiguity or confusion about them and these names were known at the time of the Salaf.
There is no doubt that naming a person with three names – as it is the case with the name of your son, may Allaah protect him – is too long and it may cause confusion as once a person hears the name of your son he would not know what is really his name, as he might think that his name is “Ahmad” and his father’s name is “Ghani” and his grandfather’s name is “Imam”. It may also be that your son’s long name is a reason of him stammering when uttering his name and not being able to say it properly. Indeed, a child needs to be addressed with simple and easy words and not with a heap of words.
As regards performing Ruqyah on your son with what is mentioned in the question, then specifying 1000 times to repeat those two words when performing Ruqyah with them makes people believe that it is something that has evidence in the Sharee’ah, so you should not abide by this number because it is not mentioned in the Sharee’ah as far as we know. However, in principle, the names of Allaah are blessed names and it is permissible to perform Ruqyah with them.
Finally, we advise you to ask the advice of the doctors in regard to the health condition of your son and not ignore this advice as his sickness may be physical. Afterwards, it is permissible to perform Ruqyah on him. For more benefit on Ruqyah, please refer to Fataawa 88705, 85500 and 82918.
