Fatwa CenterShe suspects her gold ring was stolen
Question
I have lost my Gold ring which was my Husband gifted me at first night....as far as i remember I kept it in my almiera along with my husband's and my son's ring. i could not wear the ring because its stone was came out, so i kept it so that later i will repair it and will wear. Now in the almira two rings one my husbands and another my sons ring and the stone which was came out from the ring is there but the ring is missing.My In-Laws are stay with me and though i kept the almira locked but key is always approachable to everybody in my family. My question is will I get back my ring?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
It is possible that you will get your ring back; so refer the matter to Allaah The Almighty and seek His help by supplicating Him, for it is the best way with which a Muslim can attain whatever he seeks. Allaah The Almighty is Near and Responsive. Allaah The Almighty says (what means): {And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.}[Quran 2:186]
Besides, exert every effort in searching for it, asking people about it, announcing a reward for whoever may find it and the like. If you find it, then praise be to Allaah, otherwise, be patient and expect the reward of your patience from Allaah The Almighty so that Allaah may compensate you with what is better than it. It was narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh that Umm Salamah 
said: "I heard the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, saying: “There is no calamity that befalls one of the Muslims and he responds by saying what Allaah ordered him (to say): O Allaah, reward me in my calamity and compensate me with something better than it),’ but Allaah will compensate him with something better than it.”
Also, one can supplicate Allaah The Almighty with what was reported by Ibn Abi Shaybah in Al-Musannaf and by At-Tabaraani on the authority of Ibn ‘Umar 
regarding the lost object: that one performs ablution, offers two Rak‘ahs and recites the testimony of faith (i.e. says: Ashhadu An-Laa Ilaaha Illa Allaah wa Ashhadu Anna Muhammadan Rasoolu Allaah) and then says the following supplication: "O Allaah, the Guider of the misguided and Returner of the lost, turn back towards me what I have lost with your Power and Authority because it was Your own gift and bounty." [The author of Majma‘ Az-Zawaa'id said: "Its chain of narrators has ‘Abdur-Rahmaan Ya‘qoob ibn Abi ‘Abbaad Al-Makki and I do not know him; and the rest of its narrators are trustworthy]
The following are some important notes:
Firstly, beware of accusing a certain person of taking it without having a proof for that accusation, especially your in-laws. That is because accusing them may bring about harm greater than what may occur with other than them.
Secondly, you must not go to the magicians, soothsayers and the like of those who claim knowing the unseen, because going to them or asking them is something prohibited. It was authentically narrated that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said:
• “Whoever goes to a fortune-teller and asks him about something, his prayer will not be accepted for forty nights.” [Muslim]
• "Whoever goes to a soothsayer and believes what he says, has disbelieved in that which was revealed to Muhammad." [Ibn Maajah]
Thirdly, it is prohibited for men to wear gold whether it is a ring or otherwise. We have previously explained that in Fatwa 83865, so please refer to it.
