Fatwa CenterRuling on having intercourse with one's wife before shortening her hair
Question
My wife forgot to shorten her hair after having performed ‘Umrah and we had sexual intercourse. Afterwards, she remembered that she did not shorten her hair. What is the ruling?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.
The chosen opinion of the majority of scholars is that having sexual intercourse with one's wife after performing the Sa‘y of ‘Umrah and before shortening one’s hair or shaving his head does not invalidate the ‘Umrah. However, whoever does this is required to slaughter an animal if he did so while knowing and remembering the ruling.
