My neighbor is a Christian. We are friends and we visit one another, exchange gifts, and share occasions. What is the ruling on this?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
It is permissible to visit a disbeliever and give and accept gifts from them, if the intention is to invite them to Islam. It is also permissible to answer invitations for occasions other than religious ones, such as weddings and the like, provided that there are no prohibited actions like drinking alcohol, intermixing between the sexes and the like.
However, it is impermissible to participate in their religious occasions
Allaah Knows best.
