The rituals of the Qiraan and Ifraad Hajj are the same except that the Hady is obligatory in the Qiraan Hajj

Question

When I was in the Miqaat, I intended to perform a Qiraan Hajj and those who were with me intended to perform an Ifraad Hajj. I did so out of ignorance as I should have been like them. I did not discover this mistake until the days of throwing the pebbles. I performed the obligation of Hajj as an Ifraad Hajj. What is the ruling?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

There is nothing wrong if a Muslim intends the Ihraam for any of the three types of Hajj he chooses. If you intended Ihraam for a Qiraan Hajj while others did so for Ifraad, then there is no blame on any of you, Allaah Willing.

There is no difference between the rituals of the Qiraan and Ifraad Hajj except that the Hady (i.e. sacrificial animal) is obligatory on the one who performs a Qiraan Hajj.

Therefore, if you intended the Ihraam for a Qiraan Hajj, completed the rituals of Hajj and slaughtered a Hady, then your Hajj is valid and perfect, Allaah Willing. The intention of others for Ifraad or Tamattu‘ does not affect your Hajj.

Allaah Knows best.
