I am a twenty-eight-year-old girl. A young man, whose religiousness and deep religious knowledge was admired by my family, proposed to me. He observes prayers at the Masjid. Once, he was talking to me on the phone and said that he knows everything about me, even the moles on my body. When I asked him what he meant by that, he told me that there is a mole under my right arm and another one between the toes of my right foot. I was shocked at his correct information because I wear Hijaab (Islamic covering) and always wear thick socks and he has never seen my feet before. When I asked him how he knew this he did not give me a convincing answer. Could you please explain this? Does this person deal with Jinns?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
If this man is righteous and has high morals; then, there is no harm in accepting his proposal. Rather, it is preferable to do so. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam: “If a man whose religiosity and manners you are satisfied with proposes to you, accept him. If you do not do so, there will be Fitnah (trial) and great corruption.” [At-Tirmithi and others]
He claims that he knows about the moles on your body; maybe this was told to him from a relative who knows you or someone who saw your body when you were little. It is also probable that no one told him, nor did he see you. In this case, the matter needs further research on the state of this man, as perhaps he has contact with Jinns. If it appears that he has an unlawful relation with Jinns, then do not accept him as a husband.
We draw your attention to the fact that it is impermissible for a woman to engage in a conversation on the phone with a non-Mahram (marriageable) man without a need even if he is her fiancé until the marriage contract is concluded.
Allaah Knows best.
