Do Not Inform Suitors Of old Magic

Question

As-salaamu alaykum
should I tell potential spouse(or in marriage meetings) that I have been affected by sihr ? Allah cured me alhamdulillah

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Praise be to Allah for blessing you with recovery from magic. We ask Allah, The Almighty, to render what you have been through a means to expiate your sins and raise your ranks.

You should know that being affected by magic or the like is not a defect which gives the person the option to break the marriage contract. Therefore, it is not required to inform a suitor of it unless it leads the affected person to insanity. If the woman was cured from magic, then it is not obligatory to inform the suitor of it with greater reason.

We advise you to keenly recite Thikr (supplications and expressions of remembrance of Allah), especially the morning and evening Athkaar (plural of Thikr) and to recite the Quran, observe the obligations of Islam, especially the obligatory prayers, and avoid sins.

Allah Knows best.
