Is it possible that a trustworthy person interprets a dream that there is a magic spell and the man who is under the effect of the spell must go to a Shaykh to recite some Quran and supplications on him? If yes, I heard that some people take the name of the man affected by the spell and the name of his mother and claim that they can make a recitation on him from a distance. They request him to read certain Surahs regularly in the hope of knowing the place of magic and some description of the person who worked it. Those people charge money ranging from about 1000 to 1500 QR. Is it permissible to go to those people?
May Allaah reward you
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
In principle, it is preferable for the Muslim to perform Ruqyah (healing by means of the Quran and Prophetic supplications) for himself by reading Quranic verses, prophetic Hadeeths (narrations), and forms of Thikr (words of remembrance) reported in this regard. There is no doubt that a man performing Ruqyah to himself is more effective because it is a sort of supplication, and the supplication of those who are desperate and inflicted with harm is more sincere and more entitled to be answered. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {Is He [not best] Who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him?} [Quran 27:62]
It is also permissible for an ailing person to go to someone else who is aware of the Sharee’ah-approved Ruqyah even if this is done in return for a specified amount of money or for free.
Therefore, we advise our honorable questioner to avoid this person if he uses any of these methods and that she should resort to Allaah The Almighty and ask Him to cure her. She can perform the Sharee’ah-approved Ruqyah, and it is permissible if she asks someone else to recite Quranic verses and supplications on her.
Allaah Knows best.
