Illegitimate children are only reckoned for their own deeds

Question

Would illegitimate children enter Paradise? If not, why is that so in spite of the fact that they had nothing to do with their parents’ crime?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Illegitimate children are innocent and bear no sins for what their parents did. They are born on the natural disposition of man (Fitrah) as was narrated on the authority of Abu Hurayrah may Allaah be pleased with him that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam , said that 'every child is born on the Fitrah'. [Al-Bukhari & Muslim]. This includes the children of disbelievers and illegitimate children whose parents are Muslims would be worthier. They would be reckoned for their own deeds. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another.} [Quran 6:64]

If these children die after reaching the age of religious competency, which is the age of puberty, they would go either to Paradise or Hell according to their own deeds.

Hadeeths saying that illegitimate children would not enter Paradise are Mawdhoo' (fabricated), according to many scholars, such as Mulla ‘Ali Al-Qaari and Al-‘Ajlooni may Allaah have mercy upon them.

Allaah Knows best.
