What is the Fatwa of using pigs in medical research? I work in the US in a pharmaceutical company and we frequently test new investigational drugs on animals. Among the animals are pigs.

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

There is no objection to using pigs or any other animals in medical research that result in useful discoveries. But, it should not exceed the limits of necessity and those who carry out this kind of research should try their best to lighten the pain of those animals.
