Woman Praying in a House of a Non-Muslim

Question

Can a woman pray in a house of a mushrik when the time due for Congregational prayers?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Muslim scholars dislike praying in a house of a non-Muslim since his house probably would not be safe from impurities and usually, he does not keep away from them.

Moreover, a Muslim should not perform this great form of worship in a place of a person who has cut off his relation with Allah.

However, if one is in need to pray in such a place, it is permissible for him to do so and the prayer is valid provided the very place where he performs the prayer is pure. The basis of this ruling is the saying of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ): “The earth has been made for me (and for my followers) a place for praying on and a thing to perform Tayammum with. Therefore, my followers can pray wherever the time of a prayer is due.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Allah knows best.
