Question
I like to ask about Mary (Peace upon her), what is her grand mother's name?
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
Maryam 's mother is mentioned in the chapter Al-Imran, verse 35. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {(Remember) when the wife of 'Imran said: "O my Lord! I have vowed to You what (the child that) is in my womb to be dedicated for Your services (free from all worldly work; to serve Your Place of worship), so accept this from me. Verily, You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knowing".} [3:35].
The Qur'an did not mention her name as is clear from the above verse. But, some main books of Tafseer state that her name was Hannah daughter of Qauood bin Qabeel .
As for Maryam 's grandmother's name we did not find it in Tafseer books we mentioned.
