Is it true that some companions of Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) recommend the repetition of Allah Akbar when having sex?
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
The Muslim is required to make Dhikr in all situations as reported from the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam). Allah Praises those who remember Him in all states and described them as the intelligent and discerning people. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding. Those who remember Allâh (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): "Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire.} [3: 190-191].
Ayisha (Radiya Allahu Anha) narrated that "The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) used to make Dhikr (remember Allah) in all his states" [Reported by Imams al-Bukhari and Muslim ].
There is a specific Du'a before having sex with one's wife reported in Sunnah. al-Bukhari and Muslim report from Ibn Abbas that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "If one of you intending to have sex with his wife says: 'Bismillah. O Allah! Save us from Satan and protect what you give us from Satan! And gets a child then this child will not be harmed by Satan'" .
As for saying "Allahu Akbar" before having sex with one's wife, we did not find any evidence for it. So, we believe it is not correct.
Allah knows best.
