I am working as an Instrument technician in company-A. I have recently started a part time business after my job hours for marketing of services of another company-B. The business of both the companies are entirely different. I made an agreement with company-B that if I bring a customer for you, you will give me 20% of the service charges you receive from that customer. I also introduced company-A to company-B. Company-A received services from company-B and paid service charges to company-B.The company-B paid me 20% of this money to me. The company-A doesnot know that I have an agreement of 20% with company-B. Is this money Halal (right) according to Islamic Laws (Shariyah)?
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
1- If you work for company B outside the working hours as agreed upon with company and if "A" does not prevent you from such working, then there is no blame on you.
2- There is no objection to work for B as a broker and receive 20% for bringing new customers.
3- There is no objection for making business relations between the two companies even though you receive some pay in separate agreement with B, whether this is known to the latter company or not. Then, it is not obligatory to inform A unless there is a condition between you and this company that prevents you from working outside the office hours and this becomes a violation to agreement.
Allah knows best.
