Question

I am afraid of weather, especially wind and rain. What can I do? I say all Du'a, but I am still afraid.

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. Being afraid of weather changes like seeing the wind with signs of rain should not be a source of anxiety or sorrow. It is even a good thing as reported from the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) that he used to feel worried in such states. Muslim reported from Aisha (Radiya Allahu Anha) that "the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) used to say when the wind blows! "O! Allah I ask You to give us the best of it (the wind) and the best of what it was sent for and I seek refuge with you from the bad it carries and from the bad it was sent with". She said: 'And when the sky becomes cloudy with thunder and lightning his colour used to change and he used to get inside, go out, come forward and go backwards. Now when it rained, he used to feel relieved'. You can see that on his face. Aisha (Radiya Allahu Anha) said: 'I asked him (why)'. He replied: "It can probably be like what the People of A'ad said: (interpretation of meaning): {Then, when they saw it as a dense cloud coming towards their valleys, they said: "This is a cloud bringing us rain!" …}" . However, you should adhere to the known Du'a that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) used to say in similar situations and you will not face anything bad, Insha Allah (by Allah's Will). Allah knows best.
