Fatwa CenterExpiation for Abortion
Question
I had an abortion when I was in the 3rd month. Tell me what I can do for God to forgive to me (fast, paying money to poor people....). Advise me.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
You should repent and ask Allah’s forgiveness for what you did. You should also pay the Diyyah (blood money) of the fetus, which is freeing a slave man or woman. If you cannot find that, you should pay an amount equal to the tenth of the Diyyah due for a free mother if she had been killed (as opposed to a slave woman).
