Is it obligatory to perform prayer in socks?

Accepted Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. There is no problem with performing prayers in socks or shoes outside or inside the mosque provided they are clean. However, performing prayers in the mosque is only allowed if that does not lead to dissension among the worshippers. If doing that leads to dissension, then that is not permissible. Allah knows best.
