Question
In Islam a man is allowed to have 4 wives at the same time, so can a man make nikah with 2 women on same day and in the same nikah ceremony?
2- Can a husband greet both his wives at the same time by kissing them on their cheeks, when both wives are sitting there, and he returns from work or trip?
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
There is no harm for a man to marry four women at the same time. If the husband brings all of his wives to live with him at one time he has to cast lots between them and follow the result of casting lots, otherwise he has to start with the one comes to live with him first.
If he marries a virgin he has to stay with her for seven nights, if she is not virgin then he has to stay with her three nights. It is forbidden to stay overnight with a wife who does not have the right except with the permission of a wife who deserves the night.
There is no harm to kiss a wife in her turn or when one comes from a journey in the presence of the other wife but it is better to give up such practice.
As for intercourse, if it causes a wife to uncover the Awrah in front of another or is done to offend the other wife, then it is forbidden, otherwise it is dislikable according to the majority of Muslim scholars.
