She prefers one marriage proposal over the first one

Question

What a woman must do if a pious person asking for her hand but she refuse too. Because she want somebody else who is a pious one also.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

In Islam the criterion in choosing a spouse is religion and good moral conduct. So if two men ask the hand of a woman for marriage both of whom meet these criterion, and she likes one for other considerations, like money, handsomeness, family lineage, and honour, then there is no harm, as this is more appealing for the continuity of the marital life and keeping good relations between the spouses. However, one should politely present her apologies to the other person who proposed so that he will not feel hurt.

There is no sin on a woman also in refusing a religious person with a good moral character because of other reasons like physical weakness, or ugliness and the like.

Lastly, it should be noted that the woman's parents should not force her to marry a man she does not like, as this could be a cause of dissension in the marriage, and lead to divorce.

Allaah knows best.
