i' m going to open a houde building and decorating copany.here people spends such more money for building and decorating,and use such expensive matirial.they compete each other in building luxury house and decorating it so beatiful and great in various style,such as Europian style.being as a Muslim ,if we _decorating company decorate such house , is that regard as helping with criminal act?, I mean ,are we a sinful with that service?give me a clear explanation.

Accepted Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

Decorations are sometimes used appropriately without any extravagance, but some other times, they are used extravagantly in things that are not beneficial, so selling these decorations to someone who is not extravagant or someone whom we do not know whether or not he is extravagant is permissible. However, selling them to a person whom is known to be extravagant is dislikeable according to the most correct opinion, and it is not forbidden to sell for him as his being extravagant is disliked and not forbidden.

The ruling of designing these decorations takes the same ruling explained above, if it is without extravagancy then it is permissible, otherwise it is disliked, as Ibn Al-Muflih said: 'If something is forbidden or disliked, then the wages that one gets from it take the same ruling, exactly like tailoring a dress, if it is forbidden, then its wages are forbidden.'
