Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

We advise you to ask some of your relatives to reconcile between you and your mother, and we advise you to be dutiful and kind to her regardless of what she had done to you, because the mother’s right is very great and her satisfaction is one of the key reasons of the satisfaction of Allaah The Exalted.

You should also know that there is no blame on a woman if she searched for a righteous husband and offered herself to him in marriage as long as she observes the relevant Islamic regulations as explained in Fatwa 82471.

You should also know that everything that happens to us in this world was predestined by Allaah The Almighty fifty thousand years before He created the heavens and earth. We must be sure that Allaah The Almighty is the Wise and the Ever Merciful and that He is more compassionate towards us than our own fathers and mothers, and that He knows what is beneficial to us more than ourselves. Allaah The Almighty said (what means): {But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allaah knows, while you know not.}[Quran 2:216]

Hence, the true believer should never despair regardless of the afflictions that befall him.

Dear Muslim sister, you should be careful of the plots the of the devil so that he does not fill your heart with despair. You should know that the hardships that face one do not justify negligence regarding his religious duties or turning away from the path of Allaah The Almighty. On the contrary, affliction should motivate one to adhere to his religion, come near to his Lord, seek refuge in Him and put complete trust in Him, as He is the only One Who removes troubles and hardships.

Thus, return to your Lord, repent to Him and supplicate Him humbly. Be keen on being in the company of righteous people, listening to beneficial lectures and supplicating Allaah The Almighty earnestly for He is Near and Responsive.

Allaah Knows best.
