Contemporary Judaism and Christianity are distorted

Question

What are the Heavenly-inspired religions?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

The only religion that Allaah the Almighty accepts from people is Islam. Allaah the Almighty Says (what means):

{Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam.} [Quran 3:19].

{And whoever desires other than Islam as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.} [Quran 3:85].

This religion is based on the oneness of Allaah the Almighty, believing in His prophets, His angles and in the Last Day.

It is also the religion of Nooh, Ibraaheem, Moosa (Noah, Abraham, Moses), Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and all other prophets, may Allaah exalt their mention. The Quran stated that the religion of all these prophets is Islam. Allaah the Almighty Says about Nooh may Allaah exalt his mention (what means): {And if you turn away [from my advice] then no payment have I asked of you. My reward is only from Allaah, and I have been commanded to be of the Muslims."} [Quran 10:72]

He Says about Moosa may Allaah exalt his mention (what means): {And Moses said, "O my people, if you have believed in Allaah, then rely upon Him, if you should be Muslims."} [Quran 10:84]. The same was said about Ya‘qoob and Yoosuf (Jacob and Joseph), may Allaah exalt their mention.

Prophets differ only in the details of their legislation (Sharee'ah). The Sharee'ah of ‘Eesa (Jesus) may Allaah exalt his mention and of Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, include lawful things that were unlawful in the Sharee'ah of Moosa may Allaah exalt his mention. Allaah the Almighty Says (what means): {To each of you We prescribed a law and a method.} [Quran 5:48]. Thus, we see that this expression: “Heavenly-inspired religions” is not accurate. It would have been better to say “Divine or Heavenly legislation.”

Moreover, you must know that contemporary Judaism and Christianity are distorted. The Sharee'ah of Moosa may Allaah exalt his mention was not called Judaism, nor was the Sharee'ah of ‘Eesa may Allaah exalt his mention called Christianity.

Their religion was Islam, as previously explained.

Allaah Knows best.
