How to distinguish between Mathy and normal vaginal discharge

Question

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.Jazakallahu khairan for answering my previous query! Iv another query which needs to be clarified! 1) I want to know how should a woman differentiate between normal vaginal discharge and madhiy (the fluid emitted due to arousal)? 2) If the madhiy discharged by a woman is transparent and might have got dried up on the underwear and the women is unable to see any spot to sprinkle water over it...then what she must do? 3) In sprinkling of water over the underwear,is it necessary to take handful of water n pour over it?This may cause little hardship especially during winter season. 4) A woman releases madhiy from vagina or from urethra? If it is from vagina then how to differentiate it from normal discharge? 5)As the urethral opening and vaginal opening are very nearby in female, how should she differentiate whether the discharge has taken place from urethra or vagina?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

As for distinguishing between Mathy and normal discharge, it is an easy matter. Whatever is released upon arousal without sexual pleasure during the discharge, it is Mathy, and whatever is released without any cause, it is normal vaginal wetness. When in doubt, the opinion that we adopt is that a woman has the choice to apply either ruling to the secretion under doubt.

To purify clothes touched by Mathy, it is enough to sprinkle water over the spot that has become impure. It is not a condition to soak the spot with water or to wring it after sprinkling water on it. If a woman is certain that her clothes have become impure but she does not know the exact spot of impurity, then she should sprinkle water over the part of the clothes that would make her certain that she has purified the probable spot of impurity.

Mathy is released from the place where the woman gives birth (womb) and not from the place where she urinates (urethra). How to distinguish this from ordinary wetness is a matter which we have already clarified to you. So we warn you against having obsessive whispers, as getting carried away with them leads to great evil.

Allaah Knows best.
