Married Muslim Student in US Without Medical Coverage

Question

I am a student who studies in the USA. I have a wife and two daughters. I knew that health insurance is Haram. Can I stay here and continue my education even if I can not afford the expense of medical treatment of my daughters if anything happens to them, or should I try to go back to the Islamic world.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

If it is unlawful for you to reside there, you should migrate to a Muslim country to protect yourself and your family from being compelled to do what Allah The Almighty has forbidden.

On the other hand, if your living in such countries is permissible or even obligatory, we advise you to rely on Allah and have trust in Him, and not get involved in what is forbidden; if you do so, Allah will undoubtedly give you a way out if you fear Him and rely on Him.

Allah Says (what means): {…And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent.} [Quran 65:2-3]
