Is kosher gelatin Halaal or Haraam?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
If gelatin is taken from the meat of an animal that we are Islamicly allowed to eat and it is slaughtered according to Islamic rites, then it is permissible for us to eat it.
However, if it is taken from a dead animal or an animal that is not slaughtered according to Islamic rites, then it is considered as a portion of a dead animal, and thus, it is forbidden to eat it or to use it as an ingredient in any food or drink.
Based on the above, if the kosher (that is mentioned in the question) is taken from the meat of an animal that we are allowed to eat and is slaughtered according to Islamic rites, then it is permissible for us to eat it, but if it is taken from an animal that we are not allowed to eat or an animal that we are allowed to eat but is not slaughtered according to Islamic rites, then it is not permissible for us to eat it.
Finally, we warn the questioner against the publicity of some companies which deceives the buyers and only aim to sell their products, so you have to be cautious about this.
Allaah Knows best.
